On 28-8-2024, the Uttar Pradesh State Cabinet approved the Uttar Pradesh Digital Media Policy, 2024 for appointing digital influencers to publicize the State Government’s policies, schemes and achievements on various social media platforms. Key Points: The State Government will enlist various social media agencies and firms to advertise their content. This policy will enable the influencers to share content/ videos/ tweets/ posts/ reals related to the policies and achievements of the State Governments on X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Once this policy is enforced, citizens across the country will be given an opportunity to get employment by advertising the content of State Government. The account holders and the influencers will be divided into 4 categories, based on the number of followers and will be paid accordingly a sum of Rs. 5 lakhs, Rs. 4 lakhs, Rs. 3 lakhs and Rs. 2 lakhs monthly. The influencers who will share the videos/ shorts/ podcasts on YouTube will also be divided into 4 categories, based on the number of followers and will be paid a sum of Rs. 8 lakhs, Rs. 7 lakhs, Rs. 6 lakhs and Rs. 4 lakhs monthly. The policy enables the Government to regulate the content shared on various platforms such as X, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube by punishing the influencers in case of sharing of any anti-national, obscene or objectional content
