Lakhpati Didi Yojana

Lakhpati didi is a member of a self-help group whose annual family income is one lakh rupees (Rs. 1,00,000) or more. This income is calculated for at least four agricultural seasons or four business cycles, with an average monthly income of more than ten thousand rupees (Rs.10,000) continuously.

Lakhpati Didi serves as an inspiration to the community through her journey of transformation, not just for her own income but also by adopting sustainable livelihood practices (farm, non-farm, service) and achieving a decent standard of living by managing resources effectively.

SHG groups have contributed to the development of critical financial literacy, skills development, and livelihood support while promoting collective action and mutual cooperation. Notably, the focus now goes beyond just social and financial inclusion to empowering SHG members towards entrepreneurship and self-reliance. Their innate skills and capabilities enable them to move into higher income groups. The government is now actively supporting this change and initiatives like Lakhpati Didi.

The Lakhpati initiative facilitates diversified livelihood activities by ensuring convergence between all government departments/ministries, private sector and market players. The strategy involves focused planning, implementation and monitoring at all levels.
